Blog Journal 5               While working on the Web Design project, I acquired a couple of new skills. First, I learned how to use a basic website design program and how to add different sections and elements to a website. Also, I learned how to resize pictures, because I had to resize some of the graphics I included on my webpage to make the file sizes smaller. Finally, I learned how to Add banners and photos behind headings on a website and how to do simple edits, like blurring and cropping. When working on my we design, I used contrast with my text and the background color to make sure the text is readable and accessible to people how have visual disabilities, as words with low contrast may be hard to see.  Additionally, I used hierarchy, using different background color on different sections to let viewers know when one piece of content ended and the next one started, which also helps lead the eye down the p...

Standard SS.3.A.1.2 states that students should be able to, "Utilize technology resources to gather information from primary and secondary sources." I chose this because identifying primary and secondary sources is important in history classes and that is what I want to teach. During my first two semesters in college, I learned about multiple websites that I can use to find primary and secondary sources, like the FSU libraries page and Google Scholar. I feel that I can pass this knowledge along to my students. On the CPALMS website, there is a lesson plan covering Thomas Jefferson, John Locke, and the Declaration of Independence. It shows students how Thomas Jefferson incorporated John Locke's ideas into his writing when creating the Declaration of Independence. As described in the resource description, the plan includes a worksheet, text resources, and analysis of an image. Also, it gives ideas for different types of assessment based on the standard. It is important to b...

Growing up, I used Word more recreationally than as a student. After I completed my homework every night, I would create fake lesson plans, as I wanted (and still want) to be a teacher. However, while in school and for assignments as I got older, I used Google Docs because my district had the Google Suite for every student. I like Google Docs, but it is easier to customize your documents in Word.     I think standard 2.2b is important. While using technology in and outside of the classroom, if students don't have access to these types of technology outside of the classroom, they will have a harder time completing assignments. Whether it is WiFi, printers, or even a laptop, having students use tech to complete assignments works well until you have students who don't have access to it.     I somewhat agree with the use of "digital native" when talking about my generation. Some kids grew up using iPads and computers and taught everyone around them, ...

Throughout EME 2040, I am excited to learn about different websites and types of technology that I can use during my career in the classroom. Specifically, I am excited to learn more about using things like Canva, as I am a graphic design junkie. Also, I am looking forward to learning about safety when using different facets of technology, as almost everything in today's society involves technology and it is important to keep ourselves and our students safe online. I hope to take some of what I learn in this class and pass it on to my future colleagues and even possibly my students.     Over the course of my experiences in an educational setting, I have used a good amount of technology including Google Classroom, Canvas, the Adobe Suite, Canva, and now, in this course, websites like Blogger and Padlet. I would call myself fairly well-versed in the Google and Adobe suites. Also, I like to use websites such as SlidesGo when using Google Slides. I have also us...
