Throughout EME 2040, I am excited to learn about different websites and types of technology that I can use during my career in the classroom. Specifically, I am excited to learn more about using things like Canva, as I am a graphic design junkie. Also, I am looking forward to learning about safety when using different facets of technology, as almost everything in today's society involves technology and it is important to keep ourselves and our students safe online. I hope to take some of what I learn in this class and pass it on to my future colleagues and even possibly my students.

Over the course of my experiences in an educational setting, I have used a good amount of technology including Google Classroom, Canvas, the Adobe Suite, Canva, and now, in this course, websites like Blogger and Padlet. I would call myself fairly well-versed in the Google and Adobe suites. Also, I like to use websites such as SlidesGo when using Google Slides. I have also used a variety of physical devices throughout my educational career, such as laptops, desktops, iPads, printers, and cameras.

One of the big Personal Learning Networks that I already have established is with my golf game. When I started playing during my freshman year of high school, my grandfather recommended that I take notes while in lessons or during the course. My golf coach also said the same thing. At my house, I have a shoebox with multiple little notebooks, old scorecards from every round I played in high school matches, notes on the different courses in my area, and notes from my private lessons with my golf coach about the other aspects of the game. I refer back to all of this information for a variety of different reasons, such as:

  • when something is wrong with my swing and I need it fixed immediately or sooner than my next lesson
  • when I'm about to play a course that I've only played a handful of times
  • when I want to see my progress from my past seasons.

  1. Hi Emma Claire! I am also excited to learn about different websites and types of technology to use in the classroom. I love that you mentioned SlidesGo, I feel like that is something not many people know about, and it is such a great tool. I also love that you related your PLN and learning experience with your golfing, that was really creative!
